有线电视有线电视亦称公共天线电视。有线电视是通过公共天线接收广播电视信号的一种电视系统。它把收到的电视信号通过同轴电缆传送到用户的电视机。目前,在许多系统中,同轴电缆直接从节目播放中心连接到电视接收机,而不需要天线。有线电视的最初目的只是为了改善某些地区的电视接收条件。1968年以后CATV有了很大的发展。CATV可以帮助发展新的信息技术。
