10G GPON的波长规划与GPON的波长规划不重叠，故GPON与10G GPON通过波分复用方式共享ODN网络.

10 Gbit/s的EPON在光纤上使用不同的光波长(下行1575-1580nm，上行1260-1280nm)，因此10 Gbit/s的EPON与标准的1Gbit/s的EPON可以在同一条光纤上进行波长复用。这样的好处是10GEPON的分光器上可以接EPON的ONU。
